About Tesamorelin

TH9507 — Stabilised GHRH Analogue

Research background as published in the scientific literature. Supplied for in-vitro laboratory research only; nothing here is a claim about use in humans or animals.

Tesamorelin (TH9507) is a stabilised synthetic analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), modified by the addition of a trans-3-hexenoic acid group to the N-terminus to improve plasma stability and bioavailability. It acts on GHRH receptors in the anterior pituitary to stimulate physiological GH secretion.

Tesamorelin has been investigated in both preclinical and clinical settings for its effects on the GH/IGF-1 axis, body composition, and metabolic markers. It is one of the most clinically characterised GHRH analogues, having received FDA approval for HIV-associated lipodystrophy (Egrifta), making it a valuable reference compound for GH axis research.

  1. 01GHRH Receptor AgonismTesamorelin acts on GHRH receptors in the anterior pituitary to stimulate endogenous GH secretion through pulsatile pathways. Research examines its binding affinity and receptor activation compared to native GHRH(1-44), with enhanced stability due to N-terminal modification.
  2. 02GH/IGF-1 Axis ModulationLaboratory and clinical studies have examined Tesamorelin's downstream effects on IGF-1 levels and GH pulsatility. Research has characterised the dose-response relationship and the temporal patterns of GH release following administration in research models.
  3. 03Metabolic & Lipid ResearchTesamorelin has been studied for its effects on visceral adipose tissue and lipid metabolism via the GH/IGF-1 axis. Clinical research has examined changes in trunk fat, lipid profiles, and insulin sensitivity markers in metabolic research cohorts.
