About GHRP-6

Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-6

Research background as published in the scientific literature. Supplied for in-vitro laboratory research only; nothing here is a claim about use in humans or animals.

GHRP-6 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-6) is a synthetic hexapeptide that acts as a potent agonist at the GHS-R1a receptor, the endogenous receptor for ghrelin. It was one of the first synthetic GH secretagogues developed and has been extensively studied as a research tool for examining GH secretory dynamics.

Research has demonstrated that GHRP-6 stimulates GH release synergistically with GHRH analogues when combined, making it a commonly used tool peptide in GH axis research. Additional studies have examined its appetite-stimulating properties and potential cytoprotective effects in cardiac and liver injury models.

  1. 01GHS-R1a ActivationGHRP-6 is a synthetic hexapeptide that activates the growth hormone secretagogue receptor 1a (GHS-R1a), the ghrelin receptor. Research examines pulsatile GH release stimulation and downstream somatotroph activity in pituitary models.
  2. 02Ghrelin MimicryGHRP-6 mimics ghrelin's action at GHS-R1a, with research examining both GH-releasing and appetite-stimulating effects. Unlike Ipamorelin, GHRP-6 studies show more pronounced cortisol and prolactin co-stimulation.
  3. 03CytoprotectionResearch has examined GHRP-6's cytoprotective effects independently of GH release, with studies investigating cardioprotective and hepatoprotective properties in tissue injury models through GHS-R1a-independent pathways.
