Most privacy policies are written to be unreadable. This one is written to be checked. Everything below describes what this website and this business actually do with your information — and where we say we do not do something, you can verify it yourself.
01Who we are
Quantified Peptides Pty Ltd is an Australian supplier of materials for laboratory research, based in Sydney, Australia. We handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and this page is how we meet the obligation to tell you what we do with it.
It covers this website and the emails it sends. It does not cover WhatsApp or Telegram, which are run by other companies under their own policies — see below.
02The short version
We collect what we need to send you an order and answer your questions. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone, for any price, and we do not share it outside the providers listed below who help us fulfil your order.
If you would rather read one paragraph than twelve sections, that was it. The rest is detail.
03What we collect
Depending on how you use the site, that is:
- Your account — your email address, when you created the account and when you last signed in, and the time you confirmed that you are 18 or over, that the materials are for research use, and that you had read this policy
- Order information — your name, delivery address, email address, and what you ordered, with your order history
- Your research-use confirmation — the statement you agreed to at checkout, the time you agreed to it, and the internet address you agreed from, kept as the record that you were asked
- Enquiry information — whatever you choose to put in the contact form or an email to us
- Payment information — handled entirely by our payment gateway, described below; we never receive your card number
- A saved cart — if you type your email at checkout and do not finish, the items you had chosen, so we can remind you once
- Correspondence — the messages between us, kept so we can pick up where we left off
04Why we collect it
Each thing above is collected for a reason you would recognise:
- to let you check out with an account, and to keep your orders together so you can order again
- to take, pack and deliver your order, and to tell you where it is
- to record that you confirmed the materials are for laboratory research before we supplied them
- to answer your questions and handle a problem with an order
- to send you the one back-in-stock alert or one cart reminder you asked for or would expect, and nothing beyond it
- to detect fraud and to keep the records tax and consumer law require us to keep
05Analytics and measurement
We measure how the site is used, so we can see which products people are actually looking for and where the site is getting in their way. It is used to improve the shop. It is not used to build a profile of you, it is never sold, and it is never shared with anyone outside the providers listed below.
Google Analytics (Google) — To see which products and pages people actually use, and where the site is getting in their way, so we can fix it. It collects: Pages visited, roughly how long for, device and browser type, and an approximate location from your IP address. It does not tell us who you are. Cookies set: _ga, _ga_*. Data is processed in the United States.
We also use Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, which report on how our pages appear in search results using data the search engine already holds. They load nothing into this page and see nothing about your visit.
07If you message us on WhatsApp
Our contact form composes a message and hands it to WhatsApp to send. That is worth being clear about: WhatsApp is operated by Meta, the message travels through Meta's systems, and Meta's own privacy policy applies to it as well as ours. Meta is based overseas.
We use WhatsApp because it is how most people prefer to reach a small business, and because it means you get a reply from a person rather than a ticket number. If you would rather not use it, email us instead — the address is at the bottom of this page and every other page.
08Payment
Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay payments are taken by our payment gateway on its own secure page, and the details go directly to it. We never see, handle or store your card number. What comes back to us is confirmation that a payment succeeded, a reference, and at most the last few digits, so we can match a payment to an order. The gateway is a separate company with its own privacy policy, which applies to the payment step.
09Emails we send, and how to stop them
Every order produces the emails you would expect: that it was received, that it was paid, and that it was dispatched with tracking. Those are part of the order and cannot be switched off, because they are how you know where your parcel is.
Two emails are optional. If you ask to be told when a sold-out product returns, you get one email when it does. If you type your email at checkout and leave without finishing, you may get one reminder a day later — one, never a second. Both carry a one-click unsubscribe link, and using it is honoured immediately.
News about products and offers goes only to people who ticked the box asking for it, at checkout or in the footer. We record that tick — when, and from which address — because that is the consent. Every such email carries a one-click unsubscribe, and we never send marketing to anyone who has not asked.
10Who else sees your information
Only where it is needed to complete something you asked for, or to run the site:
- Our carrier — your name and delivery address, so the parcel arrives
- Our payment gateway — to take the payment; it never passes card details back to us
- Bot protection on the sign-up form (Vercel BotID), which checks that a browser is operated by a person and does not identify you
- Our hosting and database providers, who store the site, its accounts and its order records, and our email provider, which sends the order emails — each holds only what that job needs
- Our measurement providers — Google, as described above
- Anyone we are legally required to disclose to — and we would tell you unless we are prohibited from doing so
11What we never do with it
We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to data brokers, advertisers or list builders. There is no commercial arrangement anywhere in this business that involves passing your details to a third party for their own use.
The people listed above receive only what they need to do the specific job we engaged them for, and nothing beyond it.
12Where your information is held
Some of the providers above hold data outside Australia. That is ordinary for any business running a website, but you should know it rather than discover it. We choose providers that commit to protecting the information they handle for us, and we do not send them anything beyond what the task requires.
13How long we keep it
Order records are kept for seven years, because tax and business records law requires it. Enquiries that do not become orders are kept while the conversation is live and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted.
If you ask us to delete something and no law requires us to keep it, we delete it.
14Keeping it secure
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to order information is limited to the people who need it to fulfil orders. We do not store card numbers, which is the single most effective security measure available to a business our size — we cannot lose what we never held.
No system is perfectly secure, and we would rather say that than imply otherwise. If a breach ever occurred that was likely to cause you serious harm, we would notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
15Your rights
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you
- give you a copy of it
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete it, where no law requires us to keep it
- stop sending you anything you did not ask for
16Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your information, tell us first — email quantifiedpeptides@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. We would much rather fix it directly.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au. Saying so here is not an invitation to skip us; it is your right and you should know it exists.
17Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we update this page and change the date at the top. If we add anything that measures how you use the site, it is named here before it goes live — not quietly afterwards.
18Contact
Email quantifiedpeptides@gmail.com or message +61 451 298 839. We are open Open 24 hours, 7 days.
These terms may be updated. The version above is the one that applies, and the revision date is at the top of this page. See also Terms of sale, Privacy, Website terms and Cookies.
