About Selank
Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro (Tuftsin analogue)
Research background as published in the scientific literature. Supplied for in-vitro laboratory research only; nothing here is a claim about use in humans or animals.
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) developed by the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences as a stable analogue of the endogenous immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin. It has been studied for over two decades for its anxiolytic-like properties in preclinical models.
Unlike benzodiazepines, Selank research has not demonstrated sedation or dependency in animal models. Studies have explored its effects on GABAergic, serotonergic, and dopaminergic systems, as well as its influence on BDNF expression and immune-brain communication pathways.

- 01GABAergic & Serotonergic ModulationResearch has investigated Selank's interaction with GABAergic and serotonergic neurotransmitter systems. Studies propose it may potentiate GABA-A receptor activity without binding directly to the benzodiazepine site, differentiating it from classical anxiolytics.
- 02BDNF ExpressionLaboratory studies have examined Selank's effects on BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) expression. Research in animal models suggests it may upregulate BDNF in hippocampal and cortical tissues, supporting neuroplasticity pathway investigation.
- 03Immune-Brain Axis ResearchSelank is derived from tuftsin, an endogenous immunomodulatory peptide. Research has examined its dual role in both CNS signalling and immune modulation, investigating the peptide's influence on cytokine profiles and coagulation pathways.
