About ARA 290
Araim Pharmaceuticals 290
Research background as published in the scientific literature. Supplied for in-vitro laboratory research only; nothing here is a claim about use in humans or animals.
ARA 290 is a synthetic 11-amino acid peptide derived from the helix B surface of erythropoietin (EPO). Unlike full EPO, it is engineered to selectively activate the Innate Repair Receptor (IRR), a heterodimeric receptor composed of the EPO receptor and the common beta chain (CD131), without stimulating erythropoiesis.
Research has explored ARA 290's tissue-protective and anti-inflammatory properties across multiple models, including neuropathy, metabolic disease, and inflammatory conditions. Clinical studies in sarcoidosis-associated small fibre neuropathy have examined its effects on corneal nerve fibre density and pain metrics, representing one of the more advanced clinical applications of IRR-targeted peptide research.

- 01Innate Repair ReceptorARA 290 is designed to selectively activate the Innate Repair Receptor (IRR), a heterodimer of EPO receptor and CD131. Research examines tissue protective effects without the haematopoietic side effects of full erythropoietin.
- 02NeuroprotectionLaboratory and clinical research has investigated ARA 290's role in small fibre neuropathy, with studies examining nerve fibre regeneration and pain modulation pathways in diabetic and inflammatory neuropathy models.
- 03Anti-InflammatoryResearch has examined ARA 290's effects on macrophage polarisation and pro-inflammatory cytokine expression, proposing roles in resolving chronic inflammatory states in tissue protection research models.
